Persona 3 Dual

3D Team Onboarding

Hello, my name is Pixel (@pixelkat05 on Discord), and I am the Team Leader for the 3D Team!

The 3D team is a combo of modders/rippers of Persona games + 3D modellers, & is responsible for creating the 3D assets (environments, character models, etc.) used in the game.

P3D Amicitia (a fork of Amicitia) is an editor for file formats used in Atlus' Persona games, modified by member(s) of the P3D team in hopes of an easier workflow

The process of assigning tasks is self-directed. You'll need to select a task from the GitHub Project Board under “Ready” & assign yourself & assign yourself. Sometimes, team leads will ask you to do some issues as well.

Once you have finished, please share photos/videos of the completed asset to the #3d-lounge for feedback. Once we've given the OK, you can upload the files to the 3D team’s folder in Google Drive, where the Game Dev team can place them into the game files.

Make sure that you strictly follow the Roadmap. If you want to work on an issue that isn’t on the roadmap, make sure you get approval from the team lead (pixelkat05) or the project lead (thebosst). If you want to work on an issue that IS on the Roadmap, find the associated GitHub issue! If you can’t find it, feel free to make a new issue under the “New” tab.

All new 3D team members must also read 3D Team Reference & Art Standards.

  • We need to make our own 3D models (cannot use ripped 3D models)
  • Models need to fit within the vertex count (6,144 vertices) for the DS
  • Right now, roughly ~1k vertices are taken up by the current (bad) character model.
  • We can have more vertices in an environment, it's just that the DS can only render 6,144 vertices at one time
  • We want to get the vertex count down as much as possible, while still making the environment/models itself look decent
  • There will be NO usage of Generative AI within the 3D Team. Anyone found to be using it to produce assets for the project will be kicked from the team, and have their contributions removed.

The team uses Blender for modelling, & other various tools for ripping assets from games.

All docs can be found on this docs.p3dual.com, which pulls files from p3d-docs and the shared P3D Project - Team Google Drive

If there are any questions, ping 3D lead @pixelkat05 on Discord in the #team-general or #3d-lounge channel depending on the question. Alternatively, @thebosst can be pinged if the former is not reachable.
